Texas Riparian & Stream Ecosystem Workshop - Galveston Bay Coalition of Watersheds
July 1, 2026
8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Galveston County Extension Office
4102-B Main Street (Carbide Park), La Marque, TX 77568
The free event will include both indoor and outdoor presentations by multiple natural resource agency experts and an outdoor field portion on Marchand Bayou to discover the nature and function of riparian vegetation in properly functioning systems and the benefits and direct impacts from healthy riparian systems. Participants will better understand and relate to riparian and watershed processes, the benefits that healthy riparian areas provide, and the tools that can be employed to prevent and/or resolve degradation and improve water quality.
A free lunch will be provided by the Galveston County Consolidated Drainage District. Dress is casual and comfortable for the weather as we will be outside along Marchand Bayou during the afternoon.
See more about the CEUs available on the attached flyer.
The workshop is being co-hosted by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Texas Riparian Association, the Disaster Assessment and Recovery Mitigation Unit, Galveston Bay of Coalition of Watersheds, and the Texas Water Resources Institute.
The Galveston Bay Coalition of Watersheds is a group of stakeholders working collaboratively to reduce bacteria concentrations and improve water quality in the Bastrop , Dickinson , Highland , and Jarbo Bayou watersheds. The riparian and stream workshop is an educational event supporting this effort.
